Sacramento Waldorf Lower School
The Sacramento Waldorf School provides a unique and enriched education for elementary-age children. Developmentally-appropriate academic challenge is carefully balanced with extensive time in nature, creative exploration, and free play. Our parents treasure the fact that the SWS community is a haven for the protection of childhood and innocence.
One of the greatest strengths of Waldorf is that the class teacher remains with a class for up to eight years as it progresses through the elementary grades. Because children learn and grow under the guidance of the same adult, the classroom atmosphere is one of comfort and trust.
Careful attention is paid to each child's social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual development. The arts are central in all subjects and enhance the lively presentation of mathematics, reading, and writing. Specialists in a diversity of subjects enrich the student experience with offerings that include:
- World languages (both Spanish and German)
As our students grow, the Sacramento Waldorf School keeps pace by presenting greater challenges and promoting broader independence. Academics are strengthened and deepened with each passing grade, enabling each child to exercise new skills and talents. Responsibility is encouraged by means of individual assignments and social skills are expanded through activities leading to team sports and musical ensembles.
By eighth grade, students have experienced a fully integrated education. They are connected to the world of nature and to the wider world and are ready to meet the tasks of high school with competence and confidence.
