The youngest members of our School community will find a warm welcome in our Parent-Child program. Young children from six months up to three-years-old are welcome to attend a weekly session with their parent or caregiver.

Sacramento Waldorf School Parent-Child classes are centered on group play sessions.  Small groups of parents and infants come together in an environment that is safe, cognitively challenging and emotionally nurturing for the children and peaceful and supportive for the adults. During the play sessions, adults quietly observe their children explore as the facilitator models when and how to intervene. Discussion topics during this observation time often include reading your child’s cues and signals and how to respond; fostering social skills; understanding physical and intellectual development; and the need for safe environments and consistent boundaries. Learning how to include our children in crafting, cooking, painting and gardening activities in an age-appropriate manner will be explored as well during each session.

While children engage in activities, parents enjoy the companionship and the gradual development of a small community around their children.  Parents and caregivers are encouraged to ask questions and bring up topics for discussion, which might include, for example,  the importance of rhythms and routines in family life, supporting good nutrition, and healthy sleep habits for the family.  Sometimes this information will be shared via articles, sometimes during discussion times.  

Classes are limited to eight children. Groups meet once each week for up to two hours during the school year. There are three sessions of classes throughout the school year; you may sign up for one or all three.  Exact dates and times for classes by age will be posted soon.

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required with the application and is credited to the first payment of the first enrolled session.
