Applications for student exchange during the current 2011-12 school year are closed. The application deadline for exchange during the 2012-13 school year is December 2, 2011.

International students interested in attending the High School without an exchange partner should apply as international students. Please see information on International Students.

Visiting a school abroad with an exchange partner can be a life-changing experience.  Exchanges offer opportunities for social, emotional and spiritual growth. Every year, several students studying German at the Sacramento Waldorf School visit our exchange sister school in Ravensburg, Germany for a quarter. The high school is also actively developing exchange relationships with other Waldorf schools in South America for our students who study Spanish.  Students who participate in an exchange return with a deepened and enriched perspective on relationships, learning and life in general.  Due to the multiple benefits involved, the High School supports our students in going on  exchange.

Sacramento Waldorf School students interested in participating in a student exchange begin the process by submitting an application for exchange to the Student Exchange Committee. Students must be in good social and academic standing. Most exchanges take place during the sophomore year of high school and are limited to one academic quarter. Students stay with their exchange partner’s family during their visits abroad. SWS students also receive academic counseling concerning core courses that will be missed while away and are scheduled into classes to minimize the amount of make-up work required upon return.

Students from Spain or South America interested in a three month exchange visit at the Sacramento Waldorf School are invited to submit an Exchange Application no later than December 2^nd for attendance during the following school year (September-June). Students from other countries can apply, but will be placed on a waiting list pending the completion of exchange matches for applicants from Ravensburg and South America.
