Family Involvement

Waldorf schools began as a way for communities to work towards social change and renewal, and fundamental to that social mission is community involvement in the life of a school.

Sacramento Waldorf School seeks to be a cultural hub for families where everyone can connect, learn, and grow together throughout the year. Philanthropy, volunteering, and being informed about what is happening at school are some of the crucial ways that families can be a nourishing presence in the education of their children. From our Harvest Fair, May Day festivities, Parent Guild, our Athletic program and Booster Club, to guest speakers, community education events, and individual class festivals, families have many opportunities to lend a hand and play a part in the healthy social life of our school.

Parent Guild

The Parent Guild’s mission is to provide value and service to our school community.

The Parent Guild is run by parents who want to share their unique talents and have a positive impact at our school. Every parent at Sacramento Waldorf School is a member. We strive to keep all parents informed about school news and to facilitate volunteering. We always welcome new ideas and participation. The Parent Guild also serves as the voice of parents while supporting our Faculty, Administration, and Board of Trustees.

The Parent Guild is organized with the following elected positions: Chair, Co-Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. Currently, our work is accomplished through these committees: Parent Education, Harvest Faire, Hospitality, and New Parent Welcome. The current Parent Guild Chair, Raissa Morris, can be reached at parentguild@sacwaldorf.org.

Each grade has a volunteer Parent Guild Representative who provides a direct line of communication to connect families with the entire Sacramento Waldorf School community and share school news and information with parents.  Representatives also help organize volunteers from each grade for the various festivals and special events. Some grades use a team approach where two or more parents in a class act as a grade’s representative, offering scheduling flexibility for busy parents.

Waves Booster Club

Athletics can play a big part in the healthy development of our children, whether they are competing together as a team, as individuals, or coming together as a supportive community to cheer for their classmates. Sacramento Waldorf School’s Booster Club (aka Boosters) provides our student athletes and their fans with the best possible sports experiences. The Boosters support all of Sacramento Waldorf School’s sports programs through planning, promotion, coordination, and fundraising.

Boosters is a 100% volunteer organization comprised of parents, guardians, alum, alum families, coaches, teachers, and other school personnel. We believe that athletics can be an integral part of a well-rounded education, offering opportunities for healthy competition and teamwork, for peer support and encouragement, and for hard work and dedication to achieving goals.

Boosters Primary Objectives

  • Maintaining and improving the school’s athletic facilities, uniforms, and equipment

  • Supporting and recognizing the efforts of our teams, coaches, and athletes

  • Increasing community awareness of SWS athletics programs and events

  • Providing additional funding for sports programs not covered by tuition and sports fees

Our fundraising efforts include the Season Pass, snack bar sales, Waves Gear sales, and other activities.

What is the Season Pass?

The Season Pass provides SWS families with complete access to all home games/meets for an annual fee of $100 ($120 after November 15). This is the Boosters’ primary fundraising channel, and 100% of the fees collected are used to directly support SWS athletic programs.
