Enrollment

The 2022–23 school year began with 470 students, higher than our historical average. It is important to note that this increase includes adding our Preschool program and the double sectioning of four Lower School classes. We started this new school year by maintaining our robust class numbers from the previous year with the addition of new students enrolling in the High School from regional Waldorf sister schools and other local public and private schools. We enrolled seventy-seven new families, adding ninety-six students, and our attrition rate decreased in this year to 10.2% from 12.6% in 2021–22.

The school’s commitment to balancing outdoor education with in-classroom instruction continued at the start of the school year as needed for the health of the community based on state guidelines. Sacramento Waldorf School continues to be one of the largest Waldorf schools in North America. Inquiries increased by twenty-three percent in this year. The Admissions Office conducts Online Information Meetings and was delighted to resume in-person tours for all prospective families. These virtual meetings make Sacramento Waldorf School more accessible to families nationwide and around the globe.

Sacramento Waldorf School remains a top-rated independent school in the region. The Admissions Team utilizes the wisdom gleaned from previous years when looking ahead and implementing changes that meet the current needs of our community in alignment with our school’s values.

During this time, our Enrollment work included the following:

1. Increasing enrollment in the classes with capacity for 2022-23.

2. Increasing the diversity of enrolled students inclusive of race, culture, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ability.

3. Building enrollment and retention for Waldorf education in the Sacramento region.
